Burk Salter Wines About Us
In the 1930's Burk Salter helped his father, Frank, plant the first vineyard in the Paisley area of Blanchetown. Although classed as a warm weather region the cool nights, abundant sunshine and semi-arid climate provided the ideal environment for grape growing.

After serving with the RAAF in WW2, Burk returned home and married Yvonne Darling. By the mid 1950s they had a well established commercial vineyard of their own.

They had 3 children, Roxanne, Jill and Greg.

Greg and his wife Jane (nee Barritt) have redeveloped and extended the vineyard and have gone on to produce their own boutique wines under the Burk Salter Wines label (named after Burk who died in 1991).

The premium wines are made from grapes grown in their vineyard and at present produced a winemaker in the Barossa Valley.

The decision to produce wine under their label seemed like a natural progression from growing and selling their grapes. Sufficient tonnes are retained to be used for Burk Salter Wines, the majority being sent to the other wineries.

The Cellar-Door, Wine-Tasting and Sales outlet was once the mechanics garage of the old Mobil Service Station that Burk and Yvonne built and ran from 1954 to the early 1950's. It has been fitted out with beautiful Red-Gum timber bars and accessories with a history of the Salter Family adorning the walls in a photographic display.

Situated overlooking the vineyard, River Murray and towering cliffs.
